How to Know Which Type You Are: The Support Video’s Diagnostic Tests

The support video Alex shares in this episode offers what may be the most practically useful portion of the entire series — three specific diagnostic questions designed to help you locate yourself honestly within the framework, without the distortion of ego or the temptation to claim whatever type sounds most spiritually impressive.

The first question is about the locus of your spiritual authority. Do you believe that salvation, liberation, or spiritual fulfillment comes through something external — a savior, a church, a correct doctrine, obedience to a set of rules? Or do you sense, at a level that goes beyond hope and belief, that the answer is inside you — that no external authority has final say over your soul, that no one can give you what you are looking for, and no one can take it away? If the first describes you, the support video suggests you are probably Psychic. If the second resonates as a lived experience rather than an aspiration, you are likely Pneumatic. Neither is a verdict. The first is simply where most of humanity’s spiritually engaged people actually are.

The second test is about your reaction to challenging teachings. When you encounter ideas that contradict mainstream religion — Gnostic teachings about the demiurge, the suppressed gospels, the possibility that the god most people worship is not the true source — do you react with offense, defensiveness, and a need to refute them? Or do you react with recognition — with a sense of relief, of finally having language for something you have always felt but could never quite articulate? The support video is direct about this: Psychic souls tend to be offended by Gnostic teachings because those teachings directly challenge the framework their faith is built on. Pneumatic souls tend to feel a door opening inside them when they hear the same ideas. They do not need to defend anything. They recognize something. The resonance is immediate and felt, not argued into or persuaded.

The third test concerns your relationship with the material world. Do you find genuine, satisfying fulfillment in success, status, comfort, security — the things this reality offers? Or is there a persistent, low-level sense that no matter how much you achieve or accumulate, it is never quite enough, never quite real, never quite what you were actually looking for? Psychic souls, the support video observes, can build genuinely meaningful and satisfying lives here. They can find real peace in family, career, and faith. They belong to this world even as they reach for something higher. They function, they succeed, they sometimes thrive. But there is always something in them that does not quite fit.

The Pneumatic’s Burden: What Waking Up Actually Costs

One of the most important and least romanticized sections of the support video — and one that Alex finds compelling enough to highlight — is its honest accounting of what it actually means to operate as a Pneumatic soul. This is not a comfortable position to be in. The support video is clear about this, and Alex does not soften it.

The Pneumatic path is largely solitary. Very few people in any given social circle understand what someone on this path is going through — the persistent sense of not-quite-belonging, the inability to fully settle into any of the structures this world offers, the compulsion to keep asking questions that most people around them find either unnecessary or disturbing. Once you have woken up to something, the support video notes with quiet precision, you cannot go back to sleep. The path must be walked. The inner work must be done. Everything that has been avoided must ultimately be faced.

And crucially — in a warning that Alex finds genuinely important — the support video flags the specific danger of the Pneumatic orientation: spiritual ego. A Pneumatic soul that uses its gnosis to feel superior, to dominate, to manipulate, or to construct a sense of special identity has missed the entire point. The spark is not a trophy. It is not a mark of distinction that elevates the one who carries it above those who do not. It is a responsibility. A call. And a Pneumatic stuck in ego is described, without softening, as far more dangerous than a humble Psychic. The awareness without the humility is a particularly sharp-edged form of self-deception.

The Psychic’s Path: Faith as Gateway, Not Destination

The support video also offers something genuinely encouraging to Psychic souls who might feel diminished by the Gnostic hierarchy implied in the three-type framework — and Alex appreciates this enough to feature it prominently. The Psychic orientation is not a dead end. The door to gnosis, the support video says explicitly, is not locked for Psychic souls. It is hidden. And Psychics who are humble and genuinely hungry — who stay open to the possibility that the tradition they follow is a gateway rather than a final destination, that the doctrines they have been given are training wheels rather than ultimate truth — can receive direct knowing. It is rare. But it happens.

The invitation to the Psychic soul is to continue deepening faith, devotion, and moral life — while remaining open to the unsettling possibility that there is always more. That the god you worship might be pointing toward something beyond himself. That the framework you live within might be a preparation for an experience that transcends it entirely. This is not comfortable territory for someone whose spiritual identity is organized around a specific tradition. But the willingness to sit with that discomfort, rather than resolving it through defensiveness or dismissal, is precisely what allows the transition from belief to knowing to become possible.

The Gnostic Vision: When Enough Pneumatics Remember

The support video closes with one of the most striking ideas in the entire Gnostic tradition — one that Alex presents without endorsing or dismissing, because its implications are too large and too interesting to reduce to a simple verdict. The Gnostic teachers taught that the demiurgic system — the architecture of control that keeps consciousness cycling through material existence — can only hold as long as enough souls believe in it. The illusion requires belief to sustain itself. The moment enough Pneumatic souls genuinely remember who they are — not as a collective organization or movement, but as individual awakenings accumulating to a tipping point — the system begins to lose its coherence. The archons lose their grip. The reincarnation cycle breaks. Not through war or revolution, but through the simple, radical, and ultimately unstoppable force of consciousness refusing to be deceived any longer.

This vision is not presented as guaranteed or imminent. But it is presented as directionally true — the arc of what happens when the inner work is done by enough people across enough lifetimes. He pushes back gently but firmly on the idea that the reincarnation cycle is something that happens to you against your will. If you keep returning to this reality, it is because some part of you — however buried, however unacknowledged — keeps saying yes to the next cycle when it is offered. The suffering of a given lifetime, followed by the offer of pleasure in the next, is a seductive enough proposition that most souls accept it. That is not a failure of will. It is simply where the attachment is. And it will remain there until the desire for something beyond this reality becomes stronger and clearer than the desire for more of what this reality provides.

Not because this reality is evil or worthless. But as a genuine, clear, un-coerced choice: I am complete with this. I do not want more of this. I want to move on. And when that choice is genuinely made, the universe, which has always given you what you truly want, gives you that too.

Discovering Your True Self: The Question You Were Always Walking Toward

What is the thing in you that was there before the body, before the name, before the tradition, before the conditioning — and that will still be there when all of that is gone?

You are not what you have been taught to believe. You are not the character built by your family, your culture, your religion, or your education. You are an incredible being without limits, carrying eternal life, infinite wisdom, genuine strength, and a heart whose capacity for love is not mediated by any category or any framework. Every limitation you experience — including the limitation of wondering which type of soul you are — is self-imposed. The divine spark that Alex believes is present in every single human being does not belong to one type. It belongs to all of them. It is the thing underneath the types. The water underneath all the ice.

Five minutes a day. A genuine question asked inward. Who am I? Where do I come from? What is my purpose? This is the practice that makes the categories dissolve — not by answering the classification question, but by pointing past it entirely, toward the thing that was always there, waiting to be recognized, needing no label to be real.

The Three Types of Souls: The Pneumatic Soul Explained — The Spark That Cannot Be Detained

In the fourth installment of his landmark series on the three types of souls, host Alex of TheAlexShow.TV arrives at the third and final Gnostic soul category: the Pneumatic. This is the soul the ancient teachers described as carrying a fragment of the true God — the silent, boundless, unknowable source that exists beyond the demiurge, beyond this cosmos, beyond all form and limitation. It is the soul of direct knowing rather than inherited belief, of inner recognition rather than external instruction, of remembering rather than learning. And it is the soul that the Gnostics taught cannot ultimately be contained by any system this world has ever constructed.

The Word Itself: Pneuma, Spirit, Wind

Pneumatic comes from the Greek pneuma, meaning spirit, wind, the invisible immaterial eternal essence. It is the same root as words like pneumonia and pneumatic drill — things moved by breath or air, things involving the invisible force of atmosphere. In the Gnostic context, the Pneumatic soul is the one animated primarily by spirit rather than matter or soul-force: the consciousness that has its center of gravity not in the physical body, not in the social and moral structures of the demiurgic world, but in the uncreated essence that precedes and transcends all of it.

The support video Alex shares in this episode offers one of the most precise and evocative descriptions of the Pneumatic type available in contemporary format. A Pneumatic soul, it says, carries a fragment of the true God — not the jealous, angry deity of conventional scripture, but the silent, boundless, unknowable source that creates without controlling, loves without demanding, and invites without forcing. The Outsider Who Cannot Fully Belong

One of the most recognizable and resonant elements of the Pneumatic description in the support video is the quality of not-belonging. Pneumatic souls are outsiders, the video says — even when born into religious families, even when they try to fit in. There is always a part of them that does not belong. They feel it in childhood. They question things others accept without a second thought. They see through the narratives. They sense the walls of the cage even when they cannot yet name what the cage is or why they feel it pressing in on them.

This is not alienation as pathology. It is orientation as information. The Pneumatic soul’s persistent sense of being in the wrong place — the feeling that this reality is not home, that something essential is absent from ordinary life, that the structures everyone around them seems to accept without question are somehow hollow or insufficient — is the spark communicating. It is the uncreated essence within the created form, pressing against the boundaries of a world it was never fully meant to inhabit.

The Gospel of Philip, one of the Nag Hammadi texts, puts it with characteristic directness: the pneumatic cannot be detained. They pass through all things visible and invisible. This means they are not fully owned by any structure this world offers — not by religion, not by culture, not by ideology, not by the social systems that organize most people’s lives with apparent completeness. They move through it all, learning, extracting what is useful, participating where participation makes sense. But never fully captured. Never fully at home. Always, at some level, oriented toward the exit.

You Don’t Become Pneumatic — You Either Are or You Aren’t

Here is where the Gnostic teaching becomes most theologically sharp — and where Alex’s engagement with it becomes most nuanced. The ancient teachers were explicit: you do not become Pneumatic through effort, through purity, through spiritual discipline, or through good works. It is not an achievement. It is about origin. Pneumatic souls always had the spark. It was planted in them before incarnation. And no matter how deeply they forget — no matter how many lifetimes they spend buried in material or psychic modes of engagement — that spark never dies.

It waits. And when the conditions are right — when the pain becomes sharp enough, when the questions become loud enough, when the accumulated weight of experience finally reaches some invisible threshold — it ignites. That ignition is Gnosis. It is not learning something new. It is remembering something ancient. And the Tripartite Tractate, another of the Nag Hammadi documents, states the conclusion plainly: the Pneumatic will be saved by nature — not by works, not by faith, but by what they are. Because what they are is already divine, already free, already beyond the reach of the Archons and the demiurge that governs the material realm.

Pneumatic souls are drawn, almost against their will at times, toward the hidden teachings: the texts that were banned, the ideas that were suppressed, the practices that were condemned. Not because they are rebellious by temperament, but because something in them recognizes truth when they encounter it. It resonates. It activates. It calls them home in a way that nothing within the conventional structure ever quite does.

Alex’s Gentle but Important Pushback: The Ego in the Framework

After the support video, Alex offers his commentary — and while he finds genuine value in the description of the Pneumatic type, he identifies something he calls a little element of ego running through the framework as a whole. His observation is pointed: in the comments on the original series videos, several people confidently declared themselves Pneumatic. And Alex finds this, in his characteristically honest way, a bit too convenient. Of course everyone watching a video about soul types considers themselves the awakened one. Of course the people making videos about NPCs place themselves in the twenty percent with souls. The framework, as useful as it is for description, lends itself remarkably well to spiritual self-flattery.

His response is not to dismiss the framework but to consistently refuse the hierarchy it implies. Being Pneumatic is not better than being Hylic. Wanting to leave the arcade does not make you superior to the person who is having a great time and wants to keep playing. It makes you different. And in the context of a universe created from pure unconditional love — a source that, Alex is certain, makes no second-class citizens — different is not a ranking. It is simply a current orientation.

He applies this honestly to himself: Alex is 52 years old as of this episode. He attaches to this reality in many ways. He has people he loves, experiences he values, a life he is genuinely invested in. Does that make him Hylic? Maybe partly. Does that mean he is not spiritually aware or not engaged in genuine inner work? No. It means the categories, applied rigidly, miss something important about the complexity of how any real human consciousness actually operates. Most people are not purely any one type. They are a mixture, moving and shifting, sometimes more material in their focus and sometimes more oriented toward the spirit.

The Arcade Analogy: Earth as a Place You Eventually Leave

Alex’s most original contribution to this episode is his analogy of the arcade — and it is one of the most effective framings he has offered in the entire series. Imagine, he says, that Earth is like an arcade. In each lifetime you play a different game. Life after life, you enter, you play, you exit, you return. One game, then another, then another. For most souls, there is genuine pleasure in the playing. The games are engaging. The challenges are real. The company is good. The experience of the arcade is, on its own terms, satisfying.

The soul that is Hylic is the one that wants to keep playing — perhaps the same game twenty times in a row. It is having a genuinely good time. It is not suffering in the arcade. It simply wants more of what the arcade offers. And there is nothing wrong with that. The universe gives you what you want. If you want more arcade time, more arcade time is what you get.

The soul that is moving toward the Pneumatic mode is the one that has, at some point, played enough games that the appeal of the arcade has started to fade. Not because the games are bad. Not because something terrible has happened. But because there is a quiet sense that what it came here to experience has been experienced. That it has learned what this particular kind of experience can teach. That it wants to try the exit — and finds itself genuinely oriented toward it rather than pulled back by the desire for one more round.

This is the key distinction Alex wants to make: the Pneumatic orientation is not a decision you make. It is not something you can choose into because it sounds appealing or spiritually elevated. It has to come to you. It arises organically from a process of inner saturation — from having been in the arcade long enough, across enough lifetimes, that the appetite for what the arcade offers has genuinely been met. Anyone who is actively seeking to be Pneumatic because it sounds better than being Hylic is, by that very seeking, probably not yet there. The Pneumatic knows they want to leave because they actually want to leave — not because they decided it would be the spiritual thing to do.

Not Victims — A Clarification That Matters

Alex also addresses one of the ways the Pneumatic framework can be misused: the narrative of victimhood. If Pneumatic souls are empathic beings who came here in response to a call for help, and if this world is a system controlled by Archons who keep consciousness trapped — then it can seem as if the Pneumatic soul is a noble sufferer, an exile enduring imprisonment in an alien world. Alex has no patience for this framing. However they got here, and whatever the nature of the system they are navigating, Pneumatic souls are not victims. No one is a victim here. The presence of difficulty and constraint does not reduce anyone to victimhood unless they choose to inhabit that identity. And the Pneumatic soul, above all, has access to the inner knowing that transcends whatever external circumstances it finds itself in.

This matters because victimhood is its own kind of attachment. And attachment — to any identity, including the identity of the awakened sufferer — is precisely what the Pneumatic mode is moving away from.

A Questioning Stage, Not a Final Destination

Near the end of the episode, Alex names specific people from his life and community — Melissa, a regular viewer; Tony, his friend from London; Victoria, his friend from Spain — as people in whom he sees the Pneumatic questioning. Not because they have all the answers. Not because they are spiritually complete or awakened in some ultimate sense. But because he sees in them the genuine quality of questioning that characterizes the Pneumatic orientation: the sense of maybe, maybe, maybe — of having become, as he puts it, kind of done with stuff. Of being ready for something more, or something different, or simply something other than what this particular arcade has to offer.

Does that make them better? Alex answers his own question clearly: no. We are in a questioning stage. That is all. A stage on a journey that every soul is making, at whatever pace its current orientation allows. And the destination — return to the source, reunion with the Pleroma, whatever language you prefer for it — is the same for all of them. The only variable is how many more games need to be played before the exit becomes genuinely more appealing than the next round.

The spark is waiting in every human consciousness to be uncovered — however buried it currently is, however material the orientation, however deeply the inner life has been suppressed by the weight of conditioning and habitual engagement with the physical world.

Five minutes a day. A genuine question turned inward: Who am I? Where do I come from? What is my purpose? These questions do not require you to already be Pneumatic to be worth asking. They are the practice through which any consciousness — at any point on the spectrum — can begin to hear the spark responding. And as that response deepens, the categories matter less. What remains is simply the recognition: I am not only this. There is more. And I am already, in the deepest sense, free.

The Three Types of Souls: The Psychic Soul Explained — The Middle Path Between Matter and Spirit

In the third installment of his series on the three types of souls, host Alex of TheAlexShow.TV moves into the middle ground — the second of the three Gnostic soul categories, known as the Psychic soul. This is arguably the most populated and the most misunderstood of the three types: the soul that has moved beyond pure materialism but has not yet arrived at direct inner knowing, the soul that genuinely seeks something beyond the physical but tends to look for it through external structures, traditions, and intermediaries rather than through its own lived connection to the source.

As with the Hylic episode before it, Alex does not simply narrate the ancient framework. He engages it honestly, presents the Gnostic teaching on its own terms, and then offers his own carefully considered perspective — including where he parts ways with the ancient teachers and why. The result is an episode that is both a clear explanation of what the Psychic soul is and a thoughtful reflection on what it means for anyone who recognizes themselves in this description.

What the Word Actually Means: Psyche, Soul, Life Breath

The first clarification Alex makes — and it is one worth making clearly — is that the word psychic in this context has nothing to do with tarot cards, mediumship, or the kind of paranormal sensitivity the word commonly evokes today. It comes directly from the Greek word psyche, which means soul, mind, or life breath. In the ancient Gnostic framework, the Psychic soul is literally the soul-directed soul: the consciousness that is aware enough to recognize the existence of an inner life, that asks questions about meaning and purpose, that has some orientation toward something beyond the purely physical — but that has not yet made the full transition into what the Gnostics called Gnosis, direct experiential knowing of the divine.

The support video Alex shares in this episode describes the Psychic soul as occupying a middle path — not the purely instinctual, sensory-bound consciousness of the Hylic, nor the fully awakened direct knowing of the Pneumatic, but a genuinely seeking consciousness that is somewhere between the two. Aware, but not yet fully awake. Reaching, but still through structures that ultimately stand between the seeker and the source rather than connecting them directly to it.

Who Falls Into This Category: Seekers, Believers, and the Morally Engaged

The support video is refreshingly specific about who occupies the Psychic category. Most religious people, most philosophers, most sincere seekers fall here. The person who prays, who meditates within a tradition, who studies scripture, who tries to be good and live ethically, who feels genuine guilt and hope and longing — this is Psychic territory. The people who have an inner life, who are engaged in genuine moral and spiritual development, who feel something when they encounter beauty or truth or suffering, who sense that there is more to existence than what the five senses report.

This is not a small or spiritually unimportant category. The support video acknowledges its scope and its genuine achievements: Psychic souls build civilizations. They write poetry. They create art and music. They are capable of profound moral courage, genuine sacrifice, devotion, and love. The human cultural inheritance — most of it — was built by Psychic souls who were genuinely trying to understand and express something beyond the purely material.

The Gnostic observation about the Psychic type, however, is that all of this is still happening within a particular structure — and that structure has a specific limitation. The Gnostic Critique: Praying to the Jailer

The most provocative element of the Gnostic teaching on the Psychic soul is its characterization of who, or what, the Psychic soul is actually oriented toward in its religious and spiritual practice. The Gnostic teachers made a sharp distinction between the demiurge — the lower creator god who fashioned the material world and whose authority is enforced through the systems of religion, morality, and spiritual hierarchy — and the true source: the Pleroma, the divine fullness that exists beyond and prior to the demiurgic creation.

In the Gnostic framework, most religious practice — prayer, obedience to doctrine, ritual observance, the attempt to earn divine favor through right behavior — is directed at the demiurge rather than the true source. The psychic soul, in its sincerity and devotion, is worshiping what it believes to be the highest power, without realizing that the highest power it can conceive from within that framework is still the architect of the trap. It is, as the support video puts it bluntly, praying to its jailer. Not out of stupidity or bad faith, but because it has not yet found the inner reference point that would allow it to perceive something beyond the god of this world.

The Gnostics had a specific term for the Psychic mode of faith: pistis, or belief without gnosis. Sincere hope without direct knowing. This is not nothing — the support video is careful to acknowledge that this kind of faith can take you very far. It produces genuine moral development, genuine spiritual growth, genuine moments of encounter with something larger than the individual ego. But it cannot, by itself, take you all the way. At some point, the Gnostics taught, belief must give way to knowing. The intermediary must become transparent. The structure must dissolve into direct contact. And that transition is not one the Psychic soul tends to make willingly, because it requires letting go of the very structures — the tradition, the community, the shared doctrines — that have provided meaning, belonging, and spiritual orientation.

The Middle Place: Not Heaven, Not the Pleroma

Valentinus, one of the most significant Gnostic teachers and the one whose influence spread most widely across the ancient Mediterranean, taught that Psychic souls can be saved — but not automatically. They can reach what he called the middle place: an intermediate state that is better than being fully bound to matter, but is not the Pleroma, the divine fullness toward which Pneumatic souls are oriented. The middle place is still within the demiurgic system, still bound to the cycles of time, still existing at a level below direct divine encounter.

To go further, Valentinus taught, the Psychic soul must make a choice. It must be willing to go beyond belief into knowing. To move past the comfort of structure and community and doctrinal certainty into the more uncertain, more exposed, but ultimately more liberating territory of direct inner experience. And this, the support video observes, is a choice most Psychic souls do not make. Most stay where it is safe — where there is structure, authority, community, and tradition. Where the spiritual life is organized and predictable and validated by others. Where the questions have answers, even if the answers are inherited rather than discovered.

His analogy for the Psychic orientation is a fuel gauge — not empty to full in a hierarchy of spiritual value, but as a metaphor for detachment. What actually shifts the gauge, in Alex’s understanding, is not more of the same. It is not better doctrine or more sincere religious observance. It is the shift from looking outward to looking inward. The moment the soul stops asking what does my tradition say about this and starts asking what do I actually know when I go deeply enough inside — that is the movement from Psychic toward Pneumatic. And it is available to anyone, regardless of whether they are currently embedded in a religious tradition or operating entirely outside one.

The Popularity Problem: Why Numbers Don’t Make Something True

Alex makes a quietly important observation in this episode that deserves to be highlighted: the validity of a spiritual orientation is not determined by how many people share it. Billions of people believe in Christianity. Billions believe in Islam. Hundreds of millions practice other traditions. The Gnostic Claim That Makes People Uncomfortable

The support video articulates this starkly: trying to talk to a Hylic soul about escaping the reincarnation cycle, about the illusory nature of matter, about spiritual liberation — it simply does not land. Not because the person is unintelligent or bad. But because, as the video puts it, there is no interior reference point. It is like trying to describe color to someone who has been blind from birth. The framework for receiving the information does not exist.

The Gnostic conclusion from this observation was that Hylic souls are native to the material realm rather than exiles within it. Where the Pneumatic soul feels the persistent, haunting sense of being in the wrong place — the sense that this reality is not home — the Hylic soul feels no such dissonance. They are perfectly adapted to this world because, in the Gnostic understanding, they were made for it. They are part of the architecture of the material system rather than prisoners of it.

Alex’s Critical Counterpoint: Levels of Election, Not Types of Being

The soul that appears Hylic in this lifetime is not a lesser soul. It is a soul that has chosen, at this time, to engage deeply and fully with material reality. To explore what it is to be completely immersed in the physical, the sensory, the rational, the immediate. That is a valid choice. That is a legitimate mode of experience. And it does not foreclose anything about where that soul ultimately goes.

The Mind as Limit: Why Rational Materialism Has a Ceiling

One of the most practically useful observations in this episode concerns the nature of the mind itself. Alex makes a point he has touched on in previous episodes but sharpens here in the context of the Hylic discussion: the brain and rational mind, for all their remarkable capabilities, have a structural ceiling. But that suitability is also a limitation. Anything that genuinely lies beyond the material — experiences of consciousness that transcend sensory input, inner dimensions that are felt rather than measured, the kind of direct knowing that the Gnostics called Gnosis — the rational mind cannot process. Not because it is deficient, but because it is not designed for that frequency. Asking the mind to grasp the nature of spirit is a bit like asking a calculator to compose a symphony. The tool is real and genuinely useful. It simply was not made for that particular task.

This is why, Alex observes, the response of a purely materially oriented consciousness to spiritual ideas is so often dismissal or incomprehension rather than engagement. It is not stubbornness. It is not stupidity. It is the rational mind doing exactly what it was designed to do: filtering out what it cannot process. The only way beyond that filter is not to argue harder or provide better evidence within the material framework. It is to go beyond the framework entirely — which is precisely what the soul can do when it chooses to, and what the Hylic orientation, by definition, has not yet chosen.

The Universe Gives You What You Want: The Freedom of the Material Election

Perhaps the most liberating reframe Alex offers in this episode is his reading of what it actually means for a soul to be deeply attached to material reality. The Gnostic teaching, as presented in the support video, carries a tone of finality: the Hylic soul cannot be saved, is not going to make it, is locked within the cycle. His interpretation: if a soul is truly and deeply attached to this reality — if the material world is genuinely where all of its desire, energy, and attention is invested — then it will return to this reality. The universe, he says with simple directness, gives you what you want. And if what you want is more of this experience — more physical life, more material engagement, more time in the body and the senses — then that is what you will receive. Not as punishment. Not as spiritual failure. As the natural fulfillment of your own deepest election.

This is not being doomed. This is being heard. The soul that wants to stay gets to stay, for as many lifetimes as that desire persists. And eventually — after ten lifetimes or a thousand — that desire will have run its course. The material will have been explored thoroughly enough. The appetite for something beyond will stir. And the election will shift. The same soul, the same divine spark, moving on to a different mode of exploration.

What Alex specifically pushes back on is the implication that material attachment in this lifetime represents a permanent spiritual limitation rather than a temporary orientation. The soul that is fully Hylic right now is not a lesser soul. It is a soul that has not yet chosen to look inward. That choice remains available. The door, as Alex consistently implies across every episode of this series, is never closed.

Why No One Is an NPC — Alex’s Firmest Refusal

Alex also returns in this episode to the NPC concept — the idea circulating in certain spiritual communities that a significant percentage of humanity simply lacks genuine inner life or soul, functioning as non-player characters in the simulation of material reality. He addressed this in the series opener, and he addresses it again here with equal clarity: he does not agree, will not agree, and finds the idea incompatible with his deepest understanding of the source.

Every person, in Alex’s understanding, comes from creation. Every consciousness present in a human body carries some relationship to the divine origin — however buried, however dormant, however deeply overlaid with material programming and sensory immersion. The spark may be invisible. The orientation may be entirely material. But it is there. It has to be there, if the source is truly what Alex understands it to be: a creative force of pure, unconditional love that does not make distinctions about which of its expressions are real and which are merely decoration.

The practical difference between this position and the Gnostic one matters enormously in terms of how you relate to the people around you. If some people are genuinely soulless — NPCs, Hilics without divine spark — then there is no point in engaging with them as if their inner life is real. If every person carries a buried spark, however deeply buried, then every encounter is potentially meaningful. Every human being you meet is a consciousness at some point in a journey that begins and ends in the same place yours does. That is a radically different way of moving through the world.

The Hylic Orientation Is Not a Moral Failure

Throughout the episode, Alex makes the same point in slightly different ways because it matters enough to be said more than once: there is nothing wrong with being primarily oriented toward material reality. Nothing. The word wrong does not apply here. The Hylic orientation — the orientation of the person whose reality is defined by the physical, the sensory, the immediately tangible — is a legitimate mode of human existence. It involves real pleasures, real relationships, real achievements, real experiences. It is not a spiritual mistake. It is not a sign of deficiency. It is one way of being alive.

The soul pursuing wealth is not more spiritually lost than the soul pursuing awakening. Both are pursuing what feels true and meaningful to them. Both are operating from their current level of understanding and orientation. Both are expressing the free will that makes the human journey — whatever its ultimate nature — a genuine exploration rather than a fixed script.

What the framework of the three types offers is not a hierarchy of worth but a map of possibilities — a way of understanding the range of ways that human consciousness can be oriented at any given time, and of recognizing where one is on that map without judgment. The Hylic orientation is one position on the map. It is not the worst position, and it is not permanent. It is where some souls are right now. And right now is never forever.

Discovering Your True Self: The Invitation That Applies to Every Type

The First Type: The Hylic Soul — Fully Rooted in the Material

Its values are material values: the physical, the sensory, the measurable, the immediately tangible. Things like status, wealth, physical pleasure, social recognition — these are the currencies that make sense to the Hylic consciousness, because they are real in the most direct and immediate sense of the word.

The Hylic soul does not typically have much appetite for spiritual inquiry. Not because it is incapable of it, but because the material world is sufficient, interesting, and rewarding enough on its own terms. The five senses provide everything needed for a complete and satisfying engagement with life. Arguments for the existence of an inner reality beyond the material feel abstract, unnecessary, or simply unconvincing to someone operating fully within this orientation.

Alex is emphatic that this does not make the Hylic soul lesser, damaged, or in any way spiritually deficient in an absolute sense. This is one of the most important clarifications he makes throughout the episode, and he returns to it repeatedly: no type is better or worse. No type is more or less valuable. The Psychic soul has moved beyond pure materialism. It recognizes that there is something beyond the purely physical — an energetic, ethical, or spiritual dimension to existence that the five senses alone cannot fully account for.

This is the soul of religion, in the broadest sense. The soul that finds genuine meaning in faith traditions, ethical frameworks, devotional practice, community ritual. It acknowledges that something more than matter exists, but tends to relate to that something through intermediaries — through doctrine, through institutional structure, through the prayers and rituals prescribed by a tradition rather than through direct inner experience.

The Psychic soul lives between two worlds. It has not fully committed to pure materialism, nor has it made the leap into direct, unmediated inner knowing. It is the soul of sincere seeking — and there is nothing wrong with that. The Gnostics described this orientation as a transitional stage, a genuine step along a path, rather than a final destination.

Alex draws the distinction clearly: the Psychic soul says, in effect, I know the material is not all there is. I believe there is something more. I organize my life around that belief. But the encounter with the something more remains largely belief-based rather than experiential. The inner connection exists in principle but tends to be mediated through external forms rather than lived as an immediate, felt reality.

The Third Type: The Pneumatic Soul — Awake to the Spirit

The third type is the Pneumatic soul — from the Greek pneuma, meaning breath or spirit. This is the soul that has moved beyond both pure materialism and belief-mediated religiosity into something the Gnostics considered direct knowing: Gnosis. The Pneumatic soul does not merely believe there is something beyond the material. It knows. It has experienced the inner reality directly, without requiring the mediation of external authority or institutional framework.

The Pneumatic soul recognizes itself as something fundamentally different from and prior to the body, the mind, and even the personality that has been constructed through a lifetime of experience. It has, in some meaningful sense, seen through the game — recognized the character it is playing as a role rather than an identity — and stands in a different relationship to the experience of being alive as a result.

This does not mean Pneumatic souls are visibly special or spiritually elevated in any way that the outside world could identify. They go to work. They navigate relationships. They deal with the same material challenges as everyone else. What is different is internal: the orientation from which they meet all of those experiences. The question of who they fundamentally are has been, at least in part, answered — not through doctrine, but through lived recognition.

Alex’s Central Disagreement: One Soul, Three Elections

This is where the episode becomes genuinely interesting — because Alex, with characteristic honesty, does not simply present the framework and endorse it. He engages it critically, and his pushback is both thoughtful and spiritually important.

His fundamental disagreement with the Gnostic three-soul framework is this: he does not believe the source — the creative origin of all consciousness, however it is named — produces fundamentally different types of souls. He is, as he puts it with a characteristic directness he brings to everything at TheAlexShow.TV, a million percent certain that the source makes no distinctions. We are all created from the same origin, in the same unconditional love. There is no cosmic hierarchy in which some souls are inherently more capable of awakening than others.

What he proposes instead is a reframing: not three types of souls, but one soul with three possible elections. Three different orientations that any consciousness can choose at any given point in its journey — and can move between, over time, as its experience deepens and its understanding grows.

The soul that appears Hylic in this lifetime is not a different kind of soul from the one that appears Pneumatic. It is the same kind of soul making a different choice about where to focus. And that choice — the free will to elect material engagement or spiritual inquiry, or any point along the spectrum — is not a judgment about the soul’s worth or its ultimate destination. It is simply where that soul is right now, in this particular lifetime, in this particular experience.

The NPC Question — and Why Alex Refuses to Go There

Alex also addresses, directly and without hesitation, the related idea that has circulated in certain online spiritual communities: the concept of NPCs, or non-playing characters — the claim that a significant percentage of humanity, perhaps seventy to eighty percent, simply does not have a genuine inner life or spirit. That these people are, in some functional sense, constructs of the simulation rather than real conscious beings.

He does not agree with this. Not as a soft diplomatic position, but as a genuine conviction that flows from his core understanding of the source. The idea that most human beings lack a divine spark is, for Alex, a form of spiritual elitism dressed in metaphysical language — and he finds it incompatible with the principle that all consciousness originates from the same source and carries the same fundamental value.

What he does accept is a nuanced version of the observation underlying the NPC idea: some people are so deeply immersed in material reality, so thoroughly identified with the physical and social world, that their inner spiritual capacity is effectively dormant. Buried under layers of conditioning, habit, and material focus. Not absent — buried. And that is a very different claim. A buried spark can be uncovered. A missing one cannot. Alex chooses to believe, and to act as if, every human being has a spark worth uncovering — because he is convinced that the source would not create it any other way.

Why the Three-Type Framework Still Has Value

Despite his disagreement with the ontological claim — that there are genuinely different types of souls rather than one soul in different orientations — Alex sees real value in the framework as a descriptive tool. Because whatever the ultimate nature of the soul, the phenomenology of human spiritual life genuinely does seem to cluster around these three orientations.

There are people who are primarily and contentedly material in their focus, and whose engagement with questions of inner life is minimal. There are people who are genuinely religious in a traditional sense — who find deep meaning in faith, ritual, and the ethical frameworks provided by a tradition — but who have not moved into direct spiritual experience. And there are people for whom the inner life is primary, direct, and experiential — who know something from the inside rather than believing it from the outside.

These patterns are real and observable. The Gnostics were describing something genuine about the range of human spiritual experience when they developed their classification. Where Alex parts ways with them is in the implication that these categories are fixed, hierarchical, or reflective of different grades of soul. In his reading, they are stages or orientations — and any soul can move through all three, in any order, across any number of lifetimes.

That episode, he teases, will be particularly thought-provoking — because the answer is not as obvious as it might seem, and the framework, honestly applied, has a way of revealing things about one’s current orientation that are not always comfortable to see.

The Love Balance: No Type Is Better, Worse, More, or Less

Throughout the episode, Alex returns with notable consistency to a principle he calls the love balance — the fundamental equality of all beings regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey. The Hylic soul pursuing wealth and material success is not spiritually inferior to the Pneumatic soul pursuing inner awakening. They are making different choices, from the same essential dignity, with the same fundamental value.

This is not a polite inclusion disclaimer. It is a position with real philosophical stakes. If the three types represent genuinely different grades of soul, then spiritual hierarchy is real — some souls are closer to the source, better equipped for liberation, more evolved in some absolute sense. If, as Alex believes, they represent different elections made by souls of equal fundamental worth, then the hierarchy dissolves. The Hylic person sitting next to you on the bus is not spiritually below you. They are at a different point in a journey that you are both making, toward a destination you will both eventually reach.

This matters because the history of the world is full of the consequences of people who believed they were spiritually superior — that their greater access to truth gave them license to judge, control, or dismiss those they considered less evolved. Alex’s framework is a quiet but persistent corrective to that tendency, which he sees as one of the ego’s most persistent and most dangerous disguises.

Discovering Your True Self: What Type You Are Today Is Not What You Always Will Be

As always at TheAlexShow.TV, Alex closes with the invitation that underlies everything he does. The three-types-of-souls framework — however you understand it — is ultimately a prompt toward the same inner work that every episode of this show points toward: the discovery of who you actually are.

You are not what you have been conditioned to believe. You are not the label this framework might assign to your current orientation. You are not permanently Hylic because you are currently focused on material life, and you are not permanently Pneumatic because you currently feel a strong inner spiritual pull. You are a being without limits, carrying eternal life, infinite wisdom, genuine strength, and a capacity for love that is larger than any category can contain. Every limitation you experience — including the limitation of believing your current spiritual orientation is fixed — is self-imposed.

The discovery process is personal. Five minutes a day, directed sincerely inward. Who am I? Where do I come from? What is my purpose? The questions are simple. The practice of sitting with them — really sitting with them, without reaching for a quick answer — is where the transformation happens. And as that practice deepens, the categories matter less. The election shifts. The focus moves. And what remains, underneath all the types and all the labels, is the same thing that has always been there: the spark that the source placed in you before any of this began.
